Driven by twin 45–66 kW motors (total 90–132 kW) through heavy-duty planetary gearboxes, the 1200 features an expansive 1,200 × 800 mm cutting chamber and a 25–35 ton hydraulic pusher — processing 50–120 metric tons of metal per day from the heaviest industrial scrap sources including steel mills, shipbreaking yards, major demolition contractors, and large-scale manufacturing plants.

The proven twin counter-rotating shaft design with 14–18 hexagonal knife carriers per shaft and up to 360 total cutting edges delivers the massive shearing and tearing force needed to process thick structural steel, oversized pipes, and dense industrial scrap that would overwhelm any machine in the class below.

Twin-Shaft Counter-Rotating Shearing Technology

Two counter-rotating shafts at 10–25 rpm generate massive interlocking shearing force. The low-RPM, high-torque design tears through thick structural sections, heavy-walled pipes, and dense industrial scrap efficiently — with significantly lower noise, vibration, and dust compared to impact-style hammer mills.

Heavy-Duty Hexagonal Knife Carrier System (14–18 Carriers per Shaft)

Each shaft carries 14–18 hexagonal knife carriers with sealed heavy-duty roller bearing assemblies. Each carrier accepts 3–5 tool steel blades with 4 indexed cutting edges — providing up to 360 total cutting edges per machine. The hexagonal carrier design allows individual blade rotation and replacement without disturbing adjacent units, reducing blade replacement time to under 60 minutes.

Ultra-Robust Q345B + Hardox 500 Cutting Chamber

The cutting chamber is fabricated from Q345B high-strength structural steel (16–20 mm) with full CNC-machined bearing housings. All critical wear surfaces are lined with Hardox 500 bolted wear plates — the same material used in mining and quarrying equipment. The rigid frame construction maintains perfect shaft alignment under continuous peak-load operation.

Dual 45–66 kW Motor Drive (Total 90–132 kW)

Two industrial-grade motors (45–66 kW each) drive the shafts through heavy-duty planetary gearboxes with fully synchronized output. The dual-motor configuration delivers maximum starting torque for the densest material loads. Full-load operational redundancy means the machine continues at reduced capacity if one motor requires service — no costly unplanned stoppages.

Heavy Hydraulic Pusher Ram (25–35 Tons Thrust)

A dual-cylinder hydraulic system drives the material feed ram with 25–35 tons of continuous thrust force — feeding the largest and densest scrap pieces into the cutting chamber without manual intervention. Proportional valve technology adjusts thrust force in real-time based on material resistance and chamber load.

Heavy-Duty Magnetic Drum Separator (Standard)

A 800–1,000 mm wide magnetic drum separator is standard on the 1200 Type — extracting ferrous metal from the shredded output stream at > 99.5% separation efficiency. Produces clean, furnace-ready metal chips at a rate of up to 5,500 kg/h, ready for direct melting without further processing.

Siemens S7 series PLC with 10” industrial HMI touchscreen. Features auto-load monitoring, motor current-based overload protection, jam detection with auto-reverse (3-stage retry protocol), shift production timer, fault event logging, and optional 4G / WiFi remote monitoring for real-time production data and predictive maintenance alerts.

Full Acoustic Enclosure with Heavy-Duty Insulation (Standard)

The complete machine ships with a heavy-duty acoustic enclosure as standard equipment. The 50 mm mineral wool insulated panels reduce operational noise to ≤ 81 dB — well within industrial zone limits. All panels are hinged for maintenance access. Optional upgraded 75 mm acoustic panels bring noise levels to ≤ 74 dB for noise-sensitive locations.

Split Cartridge Bearing System — Maximum Uptime

Heavy-duty split cartridge main bearings (SKF/TIMKEN equivalent, Φ 140–170 mm) allow bearing replacement without shaft removal — reducing bearing service from 2–3 days to 4–8 hours. Combined with externally replaceable shaft seals and the modular knife carrier system, planned maintenance downtime is minimized to a few hours rather than days.

Every HuaZhi 1200 Type undergoes a minimum 10-hour full-load test at maximum chamber load before dispatch.
