The HuaZhi Vertical Metal Crusher (VSI Series) is a high-speed vertical shaft impact crushing machine specifically designed for processing metal turnings, borings, swarf, and small metal scrap generated by CNC machining centers, lathes, milling machines, and other metalworking operations. Unlike horizontal shredders that process bulky scrap, the vertical crusher excels at converting long, tangled, or voluminous metal turnings into dense, furnace-ready chips in a single pass.

The vertical impact crushing chamber uses a high-speed rotor spinning at 2,000–4,000 rpm equipped with replaceable impact hammers/blocks. Metal turnings are fed from the top and crushed by the high-velocity impact of the rotating rotor against the anvils and chamber walls — producing densely packed metal chips that reduce volume by 60–80% and eliminate the springy, tangled mass that makes turnings difficult to handle and melt.

With models ranging from 15 kW to 55 kW and throughput from 500 to 2,000 kg/h, the HuaZhi VSI Series handles output from individual machining shops to large-scale steel mill machining departments processing thousands of kilograms of turnings per day.

Key Features

High-Speed Vertical Rotor with Impact Hammers

The vertical shaft carries a high-speed rotor (2,000–4,000 rpm depending on model) equipped with 4–8 replaceable impact hammers. Hammers strike metal turnings as they fall through the crushing chamber — shattering, compressing, and breaking the spiral structure into dense chips. Impact surfaces are lined with wear-resistant chrome alloy plates (HRC 55–62) for long service life.

Heavy-Duty Anti-Wear Chamber Construction

The crushing chamber body is fabricated from Q345B structural steel (10–16 mm) with Hardox 500 wear plates lining all impact surfaces. The inverted-tee anvil design at the chamber base provides the secondary impact surface for maximum breakage efficiency. All wear components are bolted and replaceable — no welding required.

Energy-Efficient Motor Drive System

Each model is powered by a single industrial-grade induction motor (15–55 kW) driving the vertical shaft through a V-belt pulley system with adjustable speed capability. The direct-drive configuration minimizes power loss and ensures maximum energy transfer to the crushing action.

Integrated Cutting Fluid Separation System

A built-in draining deck with perforated plate and collection tray is standard — allowing free cutting fluid to drain from the turnings before crushing. Recovered cutting fluid is collected in a separate tank for recycling, reducing waste and environmental impact. This feature is especially valuable for machining operations using expensive coolants and lubricants.

Optional Magnetic Separation Integration

An optional overband magnetic separator can be mounted above the discharge conveyor to extract ferrous chips from the output stream — producing clean metal chips ready for direct furnace charging.
