The HuaZhi 1000 Type Twin-Shaft Metal Shredder fills the critical gap between our compact Model 800 and the heavy-duty industrial 1300⁄1600 series — delivering a new performance tier for operations that have outgrown entry-level equipment but don’t yet need full industrial-scale investment.
The 1000 Type features a powerful 75–110 kW dual motor drive, an oversized 1,000 × 700 mm cutting chamber, and a 20–30 ton hydraulic pusher — producing a commanding 2,000–4,500 kg/h throughput that makes it the workhorse for mid-to-large scrap yards, steel service centers, and manufacturing plants processing 30–80 metric tons of metal per day.
Its twin counter-rotating shaft design with intermeshing hexagonal knife carriers generates massive low-RPM shearing force — efficiently tearing through thick-walled pipes, structural sections, mixed scrap, and dense manufacturing waste that would overwhelm smaller machines.
Two heavy-duty shafts rotate at 12–28 rpm in opposite directions, generating massive interlocking shearing and tearing force. The low-speed, high-torque design processes thick structural steel, dense pipes, and mixed scrap efficiently — with significantly lower noise, vibration, and airborne dust compared to high-speed hammer mill alternatives.
Each shaft carries 12–16 hexagonal knife carriers with sealed bearing assemblies. Each carrier accepts 3–5 tool steel blades (4 indexed cutting edges per blade) — providing 144–320 total cutting edges per machine. The sealed carrier bearings prevent lubricant loss and contaminant ingress even in harsh operating environments. Individual carrier removal for blade replacement takes under 45 minutes.
The main frame and full-length cutting chamber walls are fabricated from Q345B high-strength steel (14–18 mm thickness), CNC-machined for perfect bearing housing alignment. The rigid solid-weldment construction maintains precise shaft geometry under continuous peak-load operation — eliminating frame flex, premature bearing wear, and operational vibration.
Two industrial-grade motors (37.5–55 kW each) drive the shafts through heavy-duty planetary gearboxes with synchronized output. The dual-motor configuration delivers maximum starting torque for dense material loads while providing operational redundancy — the machine operates at reduced capacity if one motor requires servicing, avoiding costly production stoppages.
A dual-cylinder hydraulic pusher system delivers 20–30 tons of continuous thrust force, compressing and feeding bulky scrap pieces into the cutting chamber automatically. Proportional hydraulic valve control adjusts pushing force in real-time based on material density and chamber load — preventing jams while minimizing energy consumption.
A 700–800 mm wide magnetic drum separator is mounted on the discharge conveyor as a standard included component. The high-gauss magnetic drum extracts ferrous metal from the shredded output stream at > 99% separation efficiency — producing clean, furnace-ready metal chips suitable for direct melting without further processing.

The complete machine ships with a full acoustic enclosure as standard. The 50 mm mineral wool insulated panels reduce operational noise to ≤ 80 dB, meeting requirements for industrial zone operations. Hinged access panels allow rapid maintenance access. Upgraded 75 mm acoustic panels available as an option to reduce noise to ≤ 73 dB.
Heavy-duty split cartridge main bearings (SKF/TIMKEN equivalent, Φ 120–150 mm) allow bearing replacement without removing the shafts — reducing bearing replacement from 2–3 days to 4–6 hours.
